Description
Iodine: an underestimated micronutrient
When most people think of iodine, they think of the thyroid and iodized table salt. But hardly anyone knows that a woman’s breast can store more iodine than, for example, the thyroid gland. Many body organs rely on the trace element, which is a mineral, so iodine deficiency can affect health in many ways. Iodine is an important trace element. The body only needs it in small amounts, but it cannot produce the little it has on its own, it must get it from foods containing iodine.
Most of the iodine is found in the oceans, while the soil is relatively low in iodine. Fruits, cereals and vegetables therefore contain only small amounts of iodine. Due to the fortification of animal feed with iodine, the proportion in animal foods such as eggs and milk is higher than before. However, the main suppliers are algae and marine fish. The symptoms of iodine deficiency are very different, so it is worth taking a look at your diet and maybe taking iodine capsules as a dietary supplement.

Ingredients
Iodine is an important trace element and a building block of thyroid hormones, which regulates many processes in the body. It is important for the body’s energy exchange, cognitive performance, nervous system function, maintaining healthy skin and normal growth of children. Top suppliers come from the sea: sea fish, seafood – and especially algae.
All Pro Jod algae raw materials are of high quality and rigorously tested for harmful substances.
In nature, iodine is found in large quantities almost exclusively in the sea. Seaweeds are the richest source: they can accumulate in their cells a high concentration of iodine compounds dissolved in seawater. The iodine in TISSO Pro Jod comes from the nodular seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum, a type of kelp native to the North Atlantic Ocean that grows on rocky coastal areas and can grow up to several meters in length.
Our raw material Seagreens® Ascophyllum nodosum (nodular kelp) is harvested from a controlled and ecologically sustainable natural collection and is certified according to the Nutritious Food Seaweed Standard.
various rain algae ( Haematococcus pluvialis ) are the main natural source of astaxanthin, a carotenoid responsible for the red coloration of crustaceans that feed on these algae. With the help of astaxanthin, blood rain algae can survive even in harsh environmental conditions. When faced with water shortages, nutrient deficiencies, or excess sunlight, green algae shut down photosynthesis, go dormant, and produce large amounts of astaxanthin to protect themselves from UV radiation and oxidation.
The astaxanthin contained in TISSO projode is reliably protected from external influences (oxidation) by microencapsulation and is therefore particularly stable.
