Overview
The healthy intestinal mucosa is a powerful protective barrier. It contains the majority of all immune cells in the body, transports nutrients into the blood and produces enzymes and antibodies – and mucus, which completely covers them, protects them from drying out and keeps germs and pollutants away from the intestinal cells. This mucous layer is also the home and breeding ground for the intestinal flora. Mucosal cells only live for a few days and have to constantly renew themselves. To do this, they need a lot of energy and plenty of nutrients.
Building block of the mucus barrier-Lecithin, or more precisely: the phosphatidylcholine in it, is a basic ingredient of the protective mucous film on the intestinal mucosa and is therefore essential for an intact intestinal barrier. The phosphatidylcholine in Pro Mucosa comes from allergen- and GMO-free sunflower lecithin.
Glutamine: Fuel for intestinal cells-The amino acid glutamine is the main source of energy for all rapidly dividing cells, especially for the immune and mucous membrane cells in the intestine. Pro Mucosa contains a combination of glutamine and alanyl-glutamine . The dipeptide alanyl-glutamine provides glutamine in a very stable and easily absorbable form.
Vitamin B for the maintenance of mucous membranes
Three B vitamins are particularly important for a healthy intestinal mucosa and are therefore naturally also in Pro Mucosa: riboflavin (B2) , niacin (B3) and biotin (B7) . All three are involved in DNA synthesis and cell division and are therefore essential for the structure and regeneration of mucous membranes.
In addition, Pro Mucosa supplies the body with organic sulfur (MSM), quercetin, resveratrol, ficin and sulforaphane from broccoli extract. Also included is the medicinal mushroom Hericium erinaceus.
